FIER Partners supports the creation of sector development funds and technology seed investment funds, including the biotechnology sector, through contributions to capital stock, to the registered capital of these funds or through unsecured loans, and helps finance regional economic development projects through quasi-equity or equity capital.

The purpose of the sector development funds and the seed investment funds is to supply with equity capital businesses that are created or that are at the start-up stages.

A development project means a large-scale, viable, profitable and strategic project that acts as a catalyst for a given region of Québec or for the province as a whole. A development project helps develop or bolster Québec's competitive advantages or maintain or reposition Québec in activities that focus on priority niches or activities with significant economic impact.
